15TH ANNUAL PROVIDENCE BOAT SHOW TO FILL THE CONVENTION CENTER WITH POWER BOATS, SMALL SAILBOATS AND EQUIPMENT

December, 2007, Providence, RI…Newport Exhibition Group, producers of the Providence Boat Show which runs this year from January 3rd to the 6th, has announced that – with its emphasis on exhibits of powerboats that appeal to the family cruising and fishing audiences as well as small sailing craft -- it expects to fill the Rhode Island Convention Center to capacity! All show exhibits will be consolidated into expanded space at the Convention Center instead of spreading the exhibits between there and the Dunkin Dounts Center, as in the past. As Show Director, Nancy Piffard noted, “The strength of the Providence Show is in power boats, especially those that appeal to families and fishermen. We also have a big audience for small sailing craft such as Lasers and Sunfish. Larger sailboats have opted to limit their exposure at indoor shows and we had already moved our Fishing Section and Small Sailing Craft Center to more prominent positions in the Convention Center. So, as things progressed, it became more logical to keep everything together in the one 140,000 foot space for the convenience of the attendees. Add in canoes, kayaks and inflatables plus booths filled with equipment, seminars and giveaways and you have the perfect show for boaters to live their dreams!”

The show will have more than 220 exhibitors and 300 boats from 8’ to 40’. The Rhode Island DEM boat registration and renewal will be on site so boaters can register their boats at the show. Plus, there’ll be 180 booths with electronics, engines, accessories and services including financing, insurance, storage, repairs and maintenance.

Ms. Piffard noted: “The 15th Annual Providence Boat Show is the first winter boat show in New England and, arguably, the most convenient show to get to for people from eastern Connecticut, central and southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and, of course, Rhode Island…with easy access and indoor parking just off Rte 95 in downtown Providence.”

Special features at the show will include demonstrations, daily seminars including Charlie Soares on Stripers; Captain Bill Brown on Swordfish to Sharks and Boat Wise Marine Training School’s Ethanol Effect on Marine Motors plus workshops both for the fishing and general boating audiences, activities to benefit the Show’s charitable partner -- the Community Boating Center of Providence -- plus children’s activities all four days! Of particular interest is the “Bassmaster CastingKids” program sponsored by the Rhode Island B.A.S.S Federation Nation. Known throughout the United States, the program is a flip, pitch and cast competition open to young people in two age groups, 7-10 and 11-14. Winners at the Show, one in each age group, will go on to compete at the state and national level where the program has reached over 1.9 million children and awarded more than $3.1 million in cash, prizes and scholarships. This program is the most successful youth fishing program in the country.

The Providence Boat Show runs Thursday, January 3 from Noon to 8 PM, Friday/Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday, January 6 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Adult tickets at the door are $12.00 and children 12 and under are FREE with an adult. Advance discount tickets are available on-line for only $10.00 so attendees save money as well as time by avoiding ticket lines! In addition, military personnel will receive half price tickets with a valid ID all four days at all Show entrances. For more information, call 401-846-1115 or go to www.providenceboatshow.com.
